She left pornography behind. then she found Christ

Bree Solstad had spent years working in the pornography industry. Then something happened that made her question the life she was living — and eventually led her to the Catholic Church.
Bree Solstad, the American former pornography actress and producer entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil and received her First Communion, in 2024.
Bree was baptized Lutheran when she was eight and considered herself a nominal Christian. During college, however, she said her life took a very different direction, marked by drinking, drugs and promiscuity.
She eventually entered the pornography industry after being approached by another sex worker who introduced her to the business. She spent about a decade in that world.
Then came a trip to Italy.
In 2023, Bree visited Rome, Sorrento and Assisi. The churches, crucifixes and religious art she encountered began making her look at faith differently.
In Sorrento, she noticed images of the Virgin Mary everywhere.
“I felt like Mary was calling me,” she later recalled.
At Assisi, she visited the tomb of St. Clare. She said the experience moved her to tears and gave her a sense of comfort she had not experienced before.
When she returned home, something had changed.
“I quickly realized that I didn’t like what my life was like,” she said.
She began reflecting on the work she had been doing and the impact pornography had on her life and others. She said she felt guilty, unhappy and deeply dissatisfied with the direction her life had taken.
Then she went looking for a priest.
He and his secretary told her three simple words:
“God loves you.”
For Bree, those words became a turning point.
On January 1, 2024, she publicly announced that she was leaving sex work.
“I have decided to quit sex work.
To repent of my countless sins.
To give up my life of sin, wealth, vice and vain self-obsession.”
She began preparing to enter the Catholic Church through RCIA. She studied Catholic teaching and confronted some of the anti-Catholic ideas she had grown up with.
But the more she learned, the more she said she was drawn to the Church.
“I have honestly fallen in love with the Catholic Church,” she said.
Among everything she discovered, the Eucharist touched her most deeply — particularly the Catholic belief that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist.
Then came Easter.
On March 30, 2024, during the Easter Vigil, Bree entered the Catholic Church and received her First Communion.
A few days later, she shared photographs of the moment.
“These five seconds will forever be emblazoned in my heart, mind, and soul,” she wrote.
Then came the line that perhaps says the most about her journey:
“This is the best moment of my life.”
She said receiving the Eucharist had permanently changed her.
“I will never be the same again.”
Bree now openly shares her conversion story online. Her message is not that she had a perfect past. It is that she believes God's mercy can reach even the most broken places in a person's life.
“If someone as broken and sinful as me can be redeemed and converted, there is no doubt anyone reading this can also be saved by his divine mercy.”
Her story is ultimately about more than leaving a profession behind.
It is about a woman who believed she had gone too far — and discovered that she could still come home. (Source:National Catholic Register).
