Why Do Catholics Pray to St. Joseph for a Happy Death?

Among all the saints, St. Joseph has a special place in the Church. He was the earthly father of Jesus and the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Catholics also remember him as the patron of a happy death.
The Bible does not tell us how St. Joseph died. But Christian tradition has long believed that he did not die alone. It says that Jesus and Mary were with him in his final moments.
This is a beautiful thought. Joseph spent his whole life protecting and serving Jesus and Mary. At the end of his life, they were beside him with love and comfort.
His death is remembered as peaceful and full of faith. He was not alone or afraid. He was in the presence of Jesus and Mary.
That is why Catholics pray to St. Joseph for a happy death. A happy death does not mean a death without suffering. It means dying in God's grace, at peace with Him, and with hope in eternal life.
St. Joseph's death reminds Christians of their deepest hope-to leave this world in faith and enter the next in the presence of Christ.
For generations, believers have prayed:
"St. Joseph, Patron of a Happy Death, pray for us."
